Welcome to The Wisdom of the Body Play Series
Are you exhausted by your experience of trauma? And do you long to be surprised, enlivened, and nourished by your healing journey?
We can do healing work for years, talk all day and process, but, if we don’t address our bodies and give them safe opportunities to express, not much changes.
Join 5 teachers, selected by Sarah Peyton, in a gentle and warm exploration of the way expressive arts support our healing journey. This series, full of consent and choice, will allow you to show up in ways that work for you. Whether you are comfortable with full expression or feel shy and hesitant, all offerings will be welcoming, gentle, and warm, allowing you to engage in the way that works for you. Over 10 sessions, explore art, dance, movement, writing, and song to (re)connect to your body, your heart, and the community.

Let the wisdom of your body reveal itself through play, easy focus and witnessing. Discover what stories your body has to tell, and wants to tell, in just the way that feels best. Experience clear simple frameworks that provide support for the left hemisphere to be a genuine support for your right hemisphere gold to pour forth. “Catching Gold” is what happens when we feel safe to play and allow ourselves to be in wonder at what we have to express.
Sometimes our hands will dance for us … Sometimes our whole bodies. We’ll move and dance our wonder, our grief, our outrage, our love, whatever most wants expression. We’ll practice playing with what we might usually “work” on … this is the difference that makes the difference! Choose to be witnessed and/or be a resonant witness for others. Both ways of showing up are needed … and both yield the universe and allow us to touch the Mystery.

“Talk to yourself like someone you love” ~ BrenĂ© Brown
For many of us, our internal voice is critical and cruel. Join Jaya to create a new landscape of inner warmth for yourself through resonant collage making. Collage provides an opportunity to discover and explore what imagery, poetry, and words we are drawn to.
This will be an experiential workshop with lots of space to discover and create. Gather together to dive into self-care, warmth, and kindness through creative self-expression.
Bring: Collage paper, newspapers or old magazines to cut or tear, glue stick/glue and any of your favorite collaging materials. For those without access to materials, an electronic alternative will be provided. Jaya also recommends bringing some of your favorite music to listen to while you discover, explore and create.

Inviting the Unedited with Kristin Masters
This session will be taught by Kristin Masters, September 1, 2021 from 6-7:30pm PDT

One of Kristin’s joys lies in a freewrite group she facilitates weekly. Rules are simple. We set a timer, write continuously from a common prompt, read if we want to optionally, say thank you, share echoes. The simplicity of this might bely the intimacy with self and other that can arise, bubbling toward the surface and being caught by real and sweet community. Kristin invites you to know you’ll have choice in every moment, and guessing that you’ll hear something that will clarify and nourish, might bring contact with laughter, tears, states of wonder and gratitude.

Collaging Complex Truths with Jaya Manske

Often, our personal truths are complex, with multiple dimensions, but to belong or to stay safe, we hide away parts of ourselves and our experience. When these experiences are not named, spoken, or resonated with, it impacts our health and well-being.
In this experiential workshop, we’ll use collage to explore and acknowledge our truth. Allowing our right hemispheres to lead the way, we’ll invite the body, imagery and words to guide.
You’ll create 1-3 collages, allowing your body to be the guide. Jaya will offer prompts to help you explore what has not been named or held. Attune to yourself and see what wants to be created.
Bring: Collage paper, newspapers or old magazines to cut or tear, glue stick/glue and any of your favorite collaging materials. For those without access to materials, an electronic alternative will be provided. Jaya also recommends bringing some of your favorite music to listen to while you discover, explore and create.

Forgiveness is often talked about as something we “should” do – forgive ourselves, forgive others, ask forgiveness. But what does it actually mean, and how does it live in the body? Through resonant movement and warmhearted conversation, this experiential workshop unpacks forgiveness and the many feelings and sensations that may swirl around this potentially complicated experience.
All movement invitations are optional. Whatever range of motion and mode of expression feels authentic and comfortable for you is welcome.

In this session, we’ll bring some warm attention to some patterns that we’re ready to shift and release. With the help of emergent song – melody, rhythm, poetry, and breath – we’ll then offer ourselves blessings from our Essential Selves for the “new direction our longing wants us to take” (John O’Donohue). Guided by songleader and resonant healing facilitator, Joshua Blaine, one or a few participants will have the opportunity to receive and/or co-create a song from their essential self, which will be recorded and shared afterward to continue to accompany, inspire, and inform the ongoing process of transformation and integration.

Play is such a precious, life-affirming experience. In times of stress and diminished safety, it can quickly disappear. How do we get it back? Resonant movement helps us rediscover a sense of playfulness, curiosity and delight. After a gentle warm up, we’ll explore how resonant movement can lead us to play and creative spontaneity.
All movement invitations are optional. Whatever range of motion and mode of expression feels authentic and comfortable for you is welcome.

A former educator, Jaya brings to this series her warm and caring presence to create safe spaces for the child within us all to explore and express.
Informed by developmental theory, relational neuroscience, and the ways trauma impacts the brain and nervous system, Jaya offers resonant empathy, unconscious contracts/sacred vow work, time travel empathy, and is a certified mindfulness and wellness coach.
Joshua H Blaine is a community songleader, Jewish ritualist & storyteller, and newly certified resonant healing facilitator. His longings root deeply into his ancestral commitments to justice, repair of the earth, and the practice of cultivating loving community. He is most drawn to working with other men/masculine folks, white folks, and organizations/movements working for collective liberation and radical systemic transformation. He is an avid gardener, loving partner to a Hebrew priestess and survivor, and the humble parent to a mystical dog named Blue.Â
Kellita Maloof is a Performing and Teaching Artist and Soulful Conscious Burlesque Mentor. She works at the intersection where burlesque dance meets depth psychology meets attachment theory meets individuation meets autoimmune recovery meets spirituality. For over 20 years, Kellita’s been helping kind, soulful, highly sensitive helpers who’ve been over-editing, over-managing and over-giving – and are attracted to dance theater and expressive arts performance – to trust and express themselves with confidence, presence and radiance. She integrates into her work Systemic Constellations, EFT, Holographic tNLP, InterPlay and Interpersonal Neurobiology. Kellita’s mission is to support folks in dusting off the fountain of Self-Love that was hiding right in the center of their very own shimmy.
Kristin Masters brings attunement, resonance, insight and compassion to sessions toward personal and social change. She is a Certified NVC trainer and mediator, a leader in the Work That Reconnects, participatory facilitator, and has led diversity, inclusion and equity work for 30 years. While Kristin is known for her work with grief (and gratitude), she also creates spaces where play leads us, laughing and crying, toward healing our inner and outer worlds.
As a science geek and a healing enthusiast, Kristin uses Sarah’s framework of Interpersonal and Relational Neurobiology, using resonant language, sacred vows, unconscious contracts, time travel empathy, and family constellations work.
