Join Sarah Peyton for an exploration of the Interpersonal Neurobiology of disgust, contempt and self-hatred. Rarely guessed during empathy sessions, but containing a wealth of wisdom, the emotions of disgust and contempt are key to understanding self-hatred. Disgust never concerns the inorganic, while we reserve contempt for our fellow humans, and our use of the physical world to make meaning out of our world of relationships means that these powerful emotions have more effect on us that we know, allowing us to have insight into politics, in- and out-group experiences, and even horror movies. Leave this teleseminar with self-compassion for the twists and turns of our human emotion and the way we try to make sense of the world, as well as some healing insight into the phenomenon of self-hatred.
