Course Description
In a world that seems more concerned with war and the accumulation of wealth than it does the survival of our beloved kids and the ecosystems we live in, we can be kept awake by our helpless worry for everyone and everything we care about. The first thing we have to do, those of us who put love and the sacredness of life first, is to refill our own resonance pools before we can trauma-proof our kids. This allows us to strengthen the thread of love that connects parents, grandparents, and the children they love—across all ages and stages of life.
Trauma-proofing requires both a knowledge of resonant language AND an understanding of the mechanism of trauma. This mechanism is the interaction of time, the brain (specifically the amygdala) and the difficult experience of trauma. Trauma always has a seed of helplessness in it, trapping our kids in the moment when they couldn’t respond. What do we need to do, when our kids are trapped in time? We need to time travel to them and bring them home.
As parents, grandparents, and caregivers, we are always in relationship with the nervous systems of the children we love, so our access to their past, when we ask consent for time travels, is a simple thing. When a child becomes overwhelmed, shut down, reactive, or distant, or is taken over by a difficult memory, we are meeting a moment in which time has folded in on itself. In these moments, our presence, our capacity for resonance, and our knowledge of the mechanism of trauma become pathways for return.
Resonant language allows us to find our kids where they are and to accompany them home with accuracy and care. When we understand how the amygdala holds experience outside of time, we gain access to a different kind of response, one that can reach into the place where our kid is still living the original moment. From there, we can begin the process of bringing them back from the helplessness, into the present, and into their sense of agency.
This work asks something of us. It asks us to notice our own activation, to care for the ways our own nervous systems respond, and to develop the capacity to stay present in the face of intensity. Strengthened by the knowledge in this workshop, we become steadier companions for the kids in our lives. Our relationships begin to hold more room, more flexibility, and more possibility for peace and growth.
It is both tender and powerful to recognize the ways our habits of thought, our interpretations, and the meanings we make shape the relational field. With resonance and relational neuroscience, we can begin to track these patterns, soften them, and open new pathways for connection. Over time, our relationships become places where our kids can return to themselves again and again, held in understanding and care.
This course invites parents, grandparents, and caregivers into a way of being with children that supports healing across time. Together, we will practice the skills that allow us to meet children in their moments of difficult memory, to accompany them with resonance, and to support the integration of troubling experiences. In doing so, we strengthen attachment, support nervous system resilience, and deepen the thread of love that carries families forward.
Where?
The course will meet via zoom. We welcome participants from all time zones who wish to learn asynchronously for some or all of the sessions. Recordings and visuals will be made available to those who are registered for the live program (typically available within 72 hours of the live session).

What To Expect
This is an interactive, practice-based class. The class will be recorded and can be practiced with kids or grandkids if you are not able to attend live.
What You'll Learn
Part 1: Filling the resonance pool and supporting our own capacity to stay present
Part 2: The mechanism of trauma, time, the brain, and helplessness
Part 3: Time travel in practice, finding and bringing children home from stuck moments
Part 4: Resonant language for integration, resilience and ongoing connection
Who is This Course For?
Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, adoptive family, foster parents, neighbors, teachers, medical personnel—all are welcome.
This Course Includes Resonant Assistant Support
Assistant support is available during classes. There are three ways this happens:
- In groups of three with one assistant and two participants, so that participants can practice the breakout exercises with support.
- In small groups, with 1 assistant and 3+ participants, with work with one participant occurring by lottery, and the remaining participants observing.
- Depending on assistant availability, the third option is 1-1 support to receive resonant processes like time travel and unconscious contracts for material that comes up during class.
