Do you feel places in your life where something in you is ready to grow, but you can’t move? Do you notice invisible ceilings around how much aliveness, success, visibility, authenticity or freedom you can let yourself reach for? Or do you find yourself right at the edge of movement, and almost beginning, almost choosing, almost saying yes, while your system waits for a deeper permission before you can move forward?

Would it be sweet to release the Capping Contracts that keep you stuck? And to feel the mud start to soften, so that you can grow to be who you are supposed to be, and more of your life force can come through? Would you love to feel yourself living at full capacity, standing in your worth, and letting your life begin to flourish?

Course Description

Most of us have been shaped by invisible agreements since before we had language. We learned how much we could want, how far we could reach, how visible we could become, how much joy we could hold, how much success could feel survivable, and what kinds of aliveness helped us stay connected to the people and systems around us.

These agreements were often formed with great intelligence. They helped us belong. They helped us read the room. They helped us stay loyal, safe, loved, useful, acceptable, or close. Over time, some of these agreements become Capping Contracts: a type of unconscious contract (or sacred vow) that places a ceiling on our expression, ability to receive, ease, power, pleasure, success, creativity, or freedom.

Sticks out of the Mud is a course about finding the places where the stories you have been told about yourself are too small for who you are.
In this course, we will explore Capping Contracts as living patterns in the body, nervous system, imagination, and relational field. We will look at the hidden commitments that shape how much capacity we allow, how much support we receive, how much movement we permit, and how much of ourselves we let begin to show.

Drawing on neuroscience-based research about the circuits of motivation and emotion, we will explore how unconscious contracts can organize desire, inhibition, loyalty, fear, hope, timing, and action. The body may carry one contract around success – and another about pleasure, being chosen, how much ease we are allowed to enjoy, or surpassing what was available to our families or communities. Each contract has its own history, intelligence, and emotional logic.

We will work with the image of the stick in the mud: the part of us that knows there is more life available and also knows exactly where the suction is. The mud is the field of old agreements, family loyalties, cultural limits, inherited ceilings, nervous system predictions, and protective strategies. The stick is the living part that can feel the upward pull.

This work can happen with the smallest new permission or with a life-changing leap. What changes everything is the relationship with the contract itself. As we meet these agreements with curiosity and care, the energy that was bound inside them can become available again: for expression, accomplishment, and freedom. This is the satisfying work of pulling the stick out of the mud: feeling where life energy has been restricted, releasing the contracts that have capped it, and letting more of your vitality rise.

Where?

The course will meet via zoom. We welcome participants from all time zones who wish to learn asynchronously for some or all of the sessions. Recordings and visuals will be made available to those who are registered for the live program.

What To Expect

In this course, we will:

  • Identify the Capping Contracts that shape how much aliveness, success, ease, care, and freedom you allow yourself to receive
  • Explore the moments where these contracts were formed, including the relational, family, and ancestral fields that gave them meaning
  • Work with the circuits of emotion and motivation that influence expansion and capacity
  • Release unconscious contracts (sacred vows) that trap us in patterns where we stay small, over-function, hide, or limit self-expression
  • Practice allowing our embodied life force to move through the places that have been held back, capped, or delayed

Participants will leave with greater self-compassion for the places they have felt paralyzed, stuck or caught, along with a renewed sense of agency that opens the gate to forward motion.

What You'll Learn

Week 1: Capping Contracts: Finding the Ceiling
We begin by exploring the unconscious agreements that shape how much life, success, and visibility we allow ourselves to experience.

Week 2: The Wisdom of the Contract
We honor the intelligence inside the contract: the loyalty, belonging, timing, protection, and relational care that helped it form.

Week 3: Mud, Stuckness and Permission to Move
We explore the places where movement gets thick, delayed, repetitive, or confusing, and begin to identify the emotional logic holding the pattern in place.

Week 4: Releasing the Vows That Cap our Dreams
We work gently with old vows that prevent longings, desires and hopes.

Week 5: Permission, Expansion, and the Nervous System
We explore what happens in the body when more becomes possible: more receiving, more support, more success, more ease, more expression, more choice.

Week 6: Rising: The Real Live Relationship with Worth
We integrate the work by building a more secure, embodied relationship with momentum, freedom, and worth — one where you can be unstuck, stand in your worth, and let more of your life force rise.

Who is This Course For?

Anyone from total beginners to experienced resonance practitioners are welcome. This course also supports space holders and people who are interested in therapeutic and emotional session-work, including resonance partners, empathy buddies, therapists and social workers.

This Course Includes Resonant Assistant Support

Assistant support is available during classes. There are three ways this happens:

  • In groups of three with one assistant and two participants, so that participants can practice the breakout exercises with support.
  • In small groups, with 1 assistant and 3+ participants, with work with one participant occurring by lottery, and the remaining participants observing.
  • Depending on assistant availability, the third option is 1-1 support to receive resonant processes like time travel and unconscious contracts for material that comes up during class.
