What do guilt and shame have in common? What is the difference between guilt and shame? What is the connection between internalized oppression and shame? Where does forgiveness fit in? How can we heal guilt and shame, and practice radical self-acceptance?
We cannot both be alive and be innocent. Being alive means compromising the lives of others, and so what is innocence? This is true at the level of the nourishment we consume, at the level of carbon footprint, at the level of global trade and resource use. Is innocence possible? How can we step into a right relationship with life and the price it exacts? What answers can neuroscience bring us, and how can we carry our burdens of responsibility and of life in ways that are conscious and supportive?

Wow! Wow! Wow! I listened to the replay. I wish I could somehow transmit in words just how this webinar has bought parts of me alive that I didn’t know how to see let alone explore or love before. Seeing guilt as a human experience of deep loyalty to the vows/norms of the human groups/systems we belong to (our our family’s have) is giving me a whole new relief and freedom. To be able to give myself the empathy guess: ‘do you need acknowlegement for the terror or burden of breaking a social norm? Are you touching the deep need for not just you but your family to belong? ‘ … feels so much relief and opening out into both mourning and freedom. And I also immediately felt a huge yes to the exercise of externalising all the internalised oppression about how my body should be. I drew a picture of my body and wrote all around it. Could have gone on for a long time! Even just a few minutes was plenty to give me a new sense of freedom to love myself and belong just as I am. I felt that release give me support in new ways in being able to be relaxed around my family and workmates this week. I’d enjoy reading needs met and discoveries for others. Did anyone else try the exercises or have an aha?
Thank you Sarah’s soul for doing your work and offering it to the world. Thank you everyone who listens to this webinar for our beautiful shared vision of healing for all of life, for the human families that have come before us, and for our longing to awaken deep love and care among all humans for the earth that sustains us.
