In these challenging times, anger and rage can be powerful catalysts for personal and collective change. But how often do we connect our rage with love, and understand the deeper motivations behind our emotional responses?

In this six-week writing workshop, we’ll explore how engaging with Jaak Panksepp’s theory of the RAGE circuit can help us understand and express anger in a way that is linked to our capacity for love, compassion, and protection.

Panksepp’s work identifies the RAGE system as a vital part of our emotional and motivational circuits—a system shared by all mammals, essential for self-defense and the defense of others. Right now, as we witness a world where people and communities are under attack, the RAGE circuit is more alive than ever, and understanding it is essential for creative expression and personal liberation.

Through this course, we’ll dive into the neuroscience behind the RAGE circuit and its connection to both our anger and the love we hold for those we care about. You’ll learn how to tap into your anger in a way that serves you, your creativity, and your well-being. We’ll explore the ways that unmediated rage can harm us—causing physical stress, anxiety, and depression—and how linking it to love can allow for more peaceful, powerful, and creative expression.

Together, we’ll examine the role of anger in our emotional and creative lives, and reclaim it as a positive force for change, understanding, and growth. You’ll learn tools to manage your anger without repressing it, and to let it flow through your body in a healthier, more liberated way.

By the end of this course, you’ll have a deeper understanding of your own RAGE circuit and how it connects to your creative expression. You’ll leave with practical tools to balance anger and love, unlocking more freedom in your writing and creative work. Join us in a safe, resonant space to explore and express your anger and love in a way that fuels your creative life and supports your emotional well-being.
