Bringing Play to Life
A Six Week Creativity Course
In order to express ourselves creatively, we need to be able to access play. Join Sarah Peyton for a transformative exploration of the PLAY circuit, and learn how to tell complex truths, create with warm resonance, and explore with spontaneous delight.
Do you love the rising of your heart when you can catch the wave of play? Do you long to have the warmth of play infuse your body and your creativity?
Deep Play is the most fertile and generative space that we can be in, as creators.
Deep Play occurs in the brain’s “PLAY circuit”–and when we have access to it, we can experience spontaneity, unexpected expression, curiosity, and deep presence. In order to be able to get into this generative playspace, a lot of other needs have to be taken care of: we have to have all of our other circuits walking with us and acknowledged and held, in order for play to have the safety that it needs to emerge.
The main neurotransmitters of the PLAY system are our endogenous endocannabinoids, which are responsible for balancing the whole body. Play and warmth bring balance to all of the muscles in the body and keep our systems in harmonious regulation!
Additionally, Deep Play is not competitive. We can get confused and think play is about competition, but in actuality, as soon as play gets into competition, it moves out of the PLAY circuit and into the SEEKING circuit. Once we’re feeling competitive or comparative, or trying to achieve something, we jump into a completely different neurotransmitter circuit!
We also cannot experience Deep Play without emotional safety. And unfortunately, the environments where we create are usually not very emotionally safe or non-competitive – danger and competition being two factors which are destructive to the delightful spontaneity of play. In this workshop, we will play in a warm and resonant environment, releasing contracts that stop play, exploring our complex truths, and integrating these somatic states into our creative lives. Part of what makes Deep Play emerge is telling complex truths, so this class will also be focused on the discovery of what kinds of play emerge when we tell our complex truths, and are held with resonance.
Experience what’s possible when you explore and create within a resonant and welcoming space that honors the uniqueness of your truth and your voice in this 6-session series dedicated to creative process and exploration.

What To Expect:
A warm space that creates room for the flow from thought into expression, support and resonant feedback, all in service of unblocking your creativity and more fluid expression.
In each 85-minute class, we will:
- Begin with a free writing period
- Explore the relational neuroscience connected to the PLAY circuit, and how it impacts the ability to express and tell our truth.
- Offer a resonance exercise or demonstration to support the movement toward free expression
- Continue with a second free writing period
- Create space for sharing and resonant responses to each other’s work
What You’ll Learn Each Week:
Week 1 – August 6, 2024: Intro to the PLAY circuit
Week 2 – August 13, 2024: How trauma and criticism block play
Week 3 – August 20, 2024: Releasing contracts that stop play
Week 4 – August 27, 2024: Complex truths, homeostasis, play and joy
Week 5 – September 3, 2024: The essential need for warmth in play
Week 6 – September 10, 2024: Celebrating and integrating play
Who Is This Course For?
For writers, artists, explorers and creatives looking for a resonant space in which to support their creative expression. The creative process work that we’ll explore in this class is for anyone involved in, or longing to be involved in, any kind of creative pursuit.
This Course Includes 1:1 Resonant Support
Get assistant support during classes – experience resonant support from experienced practitioners when you need it during class times. Often, this work can have unexpected depth and touch on deeply held subconscious awareness and pain. Getting support when we need it most helps participants to integrate, regulate, and have a felt experience of the transformative power of resonance.
