Who Is This Course For?
This Course Includes 1:1 Resonant Support
Get assistant support during classes – experience resonant support from experienced practitioners when you need it during class times. - This work is not therapy and is not a substitute for therapy. While we hope that the processes and information that we share can be of use in your journey, we do not have the resources to support extreme psychological difficulties.
Warmth, relaxation, and yumminess felt in the body run through the CARE circuit. These are the feelings and physical experiences that come with communion, intimacy, warmth and relationships that have a lot of affection in them. For example, when you touch your dog and your whole body relaxes: that’s the CARE circuit coming on board. How delicious!
Unfortunately, because many of us were raised in a culture where there is a cultural imperative to care for others and not “be selfish:”, most of us have CARE circuits that have been co-opted for everyone else, instead of for ourselves. Or, if we have experienced life with very little affection or warmth, our CARE circuits might be blocked–which causes us to experience the world as cold and withdrawn.
Not only do we need care for ourselves (the capacity to stop and be really warm and affectionate with ourselves), we also need care for our creativity: we need to be able to enjoy our creativity and delight in it. And have it bring us a sense of warmth. We get to care for what we create, we get to enjoy what we create, we get to take delight in what we create.
The more we are able to create a warm turning towards the self, the more clarity we have in our creativity and our relationships. The more we are able to have discernment when it comes to feedback, and the more perspective we are able to have with rejection.
Many of us experience the winter holiday season as a time of self-abandonment. There’s a lot of stress that comes with the holidays and people tend to eat more than what they are hungry for-–which is an effort at self care, but it is driven by the SEEKING circuit rather than the CARE circuit. If it were the CARE circuit doing the self-care, then when we felt awful, our CARE circuit would have us stop and fold ourselves in warmth and say of course this is so hard.
In this course we will learn the neuroscience of the CARE circuit, work with unconscious contracts that block CARE and make us prioritize others, untangle the entanglement between our CARE and SEEKING circuits, make space for the complexity of family within our CARE relationships, and re-align the movement of CARE from outwards to inward.
The work in this course will support you in finding the wellspring of warmth within yourself that can be a powerful resource for creative practice and expression. This leads to more enjoyment of the creative process, more ability to stop and be warm with the self when the process is difficult, a greater sense of humor about all of the difficulties involved in creative expression, a greater sense of internal safety, and more ability to play, explore, and experiment.
Experience what’s possible when you explore and create within a resonant and welcoming space that honors the uniqueness of your truth and your voice in this 6-session series dedicated to creative process and exploration.
